Radio Maria is a non-profit station supported by donations from its listeners. Today it broadcasts twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to religious programmes, the schedule includes socially focused programmes, discussions and children’s programmes. Radio Maria is distinguished by its commitment to helping listeners through on-air and off-air consultations and through social activity.
Radio Maria depends to a great extent on volunteers. More than 120 volunteers, ranging in age from six to seventy, contribute to its broadcasts. Every station in the worldwide Radio Maria family, including Radio Maria Ukraine, is funded by donations from the faithful.
Radio Maria broadcasts around the clock and seeks to convey to listeners the depth of human culture. It is a friend and conversation partner, regardless of a listener’s religious or cultural convictions. Through culture, art and human history—with all its triumphs and failures, wanderings in darkness and great moments of enlightenment—we proclaim the Christian Good News.
We reject nothing positive and good that people have brought to life in different periods, cultures and civilisations. Everything, however, is considered in the light of a worldview shaped by the Christian choice: literary heritage, music and visual art, scientific achievements, paths of civilisational development, philosophical teachings, the history of the Church and the history of the world’s peoples.
When broadcasting in a particular country, we naturally take into account the distinctive character of its national worldview and mentality, the uniqueness and integrity of each people’s historical destiny and its invaluable contribution to world history. Anything that may contribute to national hostility or discord is categorically unacceptable to us.
