About the parish

The parish’s beginnings date to the sixteenth century, when Fastiv belonged to the Roman Catholic bishops of Kyiv.

The present parish was revived in 1988 under the leadership of Fr Jānis Krapāns, pastor of the Kyiv parish.

In 1990, the church, built in 1911 under Fr Stanislav Sheptytskyi, was returned to the faithful. Since 1991, the parish has been entrusted to the Dominican Fathers, the Order of Preachers.

Restoration of the church was completed in 2004. St Martin de Porres House has operated at the parish since 2005, and the St Martin de Porres Centre for Children and Young People since 2015.

Parish priests: Fr Andrii Kasianenko OP; Fr Zygmunt Kozar OP, died 02.10.2003; Fr Jan Piątkowski OP; and Fr Mykhailo Romaniv OP, who is also director of the St Martin de Porres Centre.

Fr Zygmunt Kozar OP, who died on 02.10.2003, was posthumously made an honorary citizen of the town.
