St Stanislaus Parish (Romaniv)

About the parish

Romaniv, named in the times of Kyivan Rus’ after Prince Roman of Halych, father of King Danylo of Halych, first appears in documents in 1471. It received Magdeburg rights in 1817 and was known as Dzerzhynsk from 1933 to 2003.

There was formerly a chapel in the local palace, and the Roman Catholics belonged to the parish in Chudniv.

In the 1990s, a masonry church was built in Romaniv through the efforts of Fr Stanislav Shyrokoradiuk OFM, the future bishop.

The parish is served by the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
