Parish History
In the early 1990s, the faithful gathered for worship in a shelter near the cemetery and later in a newly built chapel. Through the efforts of Br Vladyslav Stanislav Shyrokoradiuk, pastor in Polonne and now Bishop of Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhia, a church rose beside the cemetery. It was dedicated on 29 October 1994 by Jan Purwiński, Bishop of Zhytomyr. Construction of the novitiate house also began through Br Vladyslav Stanislav Shyrokoradiuk’s initiative and was subsequently supervised by Br Frantsysk Botvina.
On 16 June 1997, Br Emanuel Hoshko, General Definitor of the Order of Friars Minor, blessed the newly built novitiate house.
On 24 July 1997, Br Czesław Gniecki, Provincial Minister of the Kraków Province of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, issued a decree canonically establishing the house of the Friars Minor in Baranivka. On 5 September that year, Br Giacomo Bini, Minister General of the Order of Friars Minor, approved the novitiate of the Custody of St Michael the Archangel by decree.
