Most Holy Trinity Parish (Cherniakhiv)

As in many places in the former Soviet Union, the history of the parish in Cherniakhiv began with people gathering for Holy Mass in private homes, around 1993. Assistance from priests from Poland played a part in the early 1990s, although unfortunately the people do not remember the priest’s name. This situation continued until 2001, when Monsignor Ludwik Kamilewski was appointed pastor. In 2002, he reached an agreement with the local authorities to transfer a neglected summer theatre to the Roman Catholic Church. Its stage was converted into a church and its dressing rooms into a sacristy and classroom. In 2013, a decree of Archbishop Petro Malchuk appointed a dedicated pastor to the parish, which had previously been served by priests from St Wenceslaus Parish in Zhytomyr. Although Holy Mass is already celebrated in the building, construction remained unfinished as of 2017, and the church had not yet been dedicated.
