About the parish
Some Dates in the Parish’s History:
13 June 1994 — Bishop Jan Purwiński establishes a parish on the left bank of the Dnipro under the patronage of Mary, Mother of the Church. Br Kazimierz Guzik is appointed its first pastor.
22 June 1996 — after several years of preparing documents, the Capuchins receive an order allocating land on Perova Boulevard for a church, on the patronal feast of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish.
20 November 1996 — the first Mass is celebrated on the fenced-off church construction site, presided over by Bishop Stanislav Shyrokoradiuk.
8 September 1997 — the temporary chapel and the friars’ accommodation, built on the church construction site, are blessed.
21 April 1997 — on Holy Thursday, the friars receive permission to carry out construction work.
2 September 1999 — the first earth is excavated for the foundations of the church and friary.
23 September 2000 — Archbishop Nikola Eterović, Apostolic Nuncio, lays the church’s cornerstone.
25 January 2004 — Bishop Stanislav Shyrokoradiuk blesses the lower church.
