About the parish
Portselianove, formerly Tokarivka and known as Pershotravensk from 1934, is a relatively young settlement founded in 1898. Its name reflects the electrical porcelain factory built there in 1900.
In January 1918, the settlement came under Soviet occupation. Under these historical circumstances, a Catholic church could not be established here. Parish life in Portselianove began to develop only in 1988, towards the end of Soviet rule. In 1991, Bishop Jan Purwiński consecrated the Church of Our Lady Queen of the Rosary, and a separate parish was established in 1998. Local Catholics are served by the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
