Blessed Ladislaus of Gielniów Parish (Korchak)

The small village of Korchak in the Zhytomyr region, whose population is now no more than five hundred, was once called Korts and has been known since at least the early twentieth century.

Its landmark today is the Roman Catholic Church of Blessed Ladislaus of Gielniów, converted from an ordinary residential house. Masonry towers and a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes stand in front of the entrance.

Construction of a church for the local Catholic community began in the 1990s, after the fall of the communist regime. In 2014, the exterior was renovated and the surrounding grounds improved.

The church’s interior includes copies of the well-known icons of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Hodegetria) and the Inexhaustible Chalice. It also houses relics of Blessed Ladislaus of Gielniów, the miracle-working friar and patron of the parish.
